If there’s only one place to see and be seen by film, music and fashion’s elite, it’s definitely New York City. The Big Apple seems to be the epicentre of new trends (and fads) that never fail to shake the industry. With native designer labels like Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and more, New York style is truly an amalgamation of both street and high fashion.
New York Fashion Week played host to a diverse crowd of Hollywood’s finest dressers, the industry’s power players, and the most influential of fashion bloggers, like Chiara Ferragni, and Aimee Song, just to name a few. The almost-unanimous choice of style seemed to be bright, cheerful functionals – perfect in the chilly New York weather.
The one fashionista that perfectly sums up New York’s young and vibrant fashion community to me is model and TV personality, Irene Kim, who, by the way, also owns a stunning Instagram feed (@ireneisgood). Her most striking style is her rainbow-coloured locks, which she describes as “colourful chaosâ€. The Seattle native who divides her time between Seoul and New York, doesn’t take long to warm up to the streets in her bold, colour blocked wooly knits, and crisp white sneakers.
For a style as refreshing as Irene Kim’s, I’ve gathered only the best of New York’s street styles on my Pinterest board. Check them out!
