Top 10 beach essentials for a perfect sunshine escape

A simple life is good with me. I don’t need a whole lot. For me, a T-shirt, a pair of shorts, barefoot on a beach and I’m happy. -Yanni

Hey ladies, it’s the season to be beach-bound! If you’re planning a vacation for some summertime fun, then don’t miss out on this checklist that I swear by.
Turn up the heat at your sun, sand and sea adventure – after all, summer is about a little spontaneity!

1. Beach Towel
A beach towel is the most understated accessory ever. Whether you’re into stripes, prints or colours, don’t underestimate towels! Find the right print and colour to complement your bikini, accessories and glowing tan!

2. Sandals or flip-flops
We’re all guilty of just slipping into our most comfortable pair of sandals or flip-slops, thinking we’d mostly be barefoot on the beach anyway. What if you decide to go for an impromptu brunch or drinks at the beachside bar after? Never compromise on style even if you’re just hitting the beach! Opt for footwear in cheerful colours, or flirty embellishments that’ll accentuate your legs while you prance around in shorts, summer dresses or swimwear. Need something more fancy? Gladiator sandals or wedges are just as stylish and practical!

3. Sun Hat
Hats have been all the rage recently and the beach is the perfect place to pull of the look without looking too overdressed! Opt for hats that have wider brim to shielf your face from the sun. Pick neutral shades like black, white, cream or bluish shades – some of the year’s colour trend. Teach to match and even see you through various trends (on or off the beach), add some pins or ribbons to give a playful twist to your hat!

4. Bikini
Give your dull-looking triangles a break and make way for cute bikinis! With exciting options in a hodgepodge of colours, push beyond your usual limits and try a high-waisted bikini or cutout halter one-piece. Pay homage to the 50s in a retro swimsuit with classic patterned top, and pair it with high-wasted bikini bottoms. Looking to make a bold statement? Tap into your wild side by choosing a playful animal print that pops against your black bikini top!

5.Throw over
From trend-setting tunics to effortlessly chic max silhouettes, the throw over is the perfect staple for the laid back, sexy beach soul inside you! Ranging from prints to intricate embroidery and subtle details, imbue boho-chic to your beachwear. Hit the beach then head for cocktail at sunset in stack of style.

6. Beach Bag
Size is everything when it comes to beach bags. You’ll need room for books, lotion, towels and more! But that doesn’t mean compromising on style. Being practical and stylish all at the same time, there’s no way you can go wrong with a woven bag, tote or purse. Whether it be compact numbers that can easily folded up in your suitcase, sturdier ones that could serve as a carry-on, or a contemporary take like waterproof, jelly bags; all of these will get you ready to hit the beach in no time.

7. Sunglass
Don’t forget your sunglasses! Opt for frames that flatter your face. Aviators, colored wayfarers or oversized ones will protect your eyes, and add that extra style-oomph to your ensemble.

8. Sunblock
This is the most important item, and one you should never go to the beach without. Check out my post on tip on UV protection. Sun blocks come in various kinds – gels, creams and even sprays. Take your pick and slanther it generously on your body. When buying sunblocks, pick waterproof ones which are the best option if you intend to frolick in the waters. For the greatest protection, choose one that has at least an SPF of 30 that includes protection from both UVA and UVB rays.

9. Aloe Vera Gel
Soothe your skin after a session of sun tanning with aloe vera gel. Pat it onto your towel-dried skin and let the gel settle natural. With a cooling effect, the aloe vera gel will soothe your skin and minimize peeling.

10. Water-resistant Speaker
Last but not least, link your iPod to your speaker and get the beach party started! What’s hitting the beach without turning up the music a little louder?
